Gamma AI Review: Is Gamma AI Worth It in 2026?

Gamma is worth paying for if you make presentations regularly, share them by link or PDF, and care more about getting a good-looking draft quickly than about controlling every element on the slide. It is harder to justify if your decks must end up as tidy PowerPoint files, if you present a couple of times a year, or if your company has strict brand templates. For most individuals the real question is whether the Plus plan, at around $10 a month, saves more time than it costs.

This review draws on Gamma's own documentation and pricing and on published user feedback, all checked on 7 October 2026. We did not run hands-on tests, and nothing here is a performance measurement.

What Gamma AI is used for

Gamma is a browser-based AI tool for making presentations, documents and web pages. You start from a prompt, from text you paste in, or from a file you import, and Gamma writes and designs a first version. Its slides are called cards. They look like slides but can grow taller than a standard 16:9 frame, which suits scrolling on a screen and causes most of the export complaints covered below.

People mainly use it for pitch decks, sales and client presentations, internal updates and coursework. It does not run inside PowerPoint or Google Slides. You work in Gamma and export when you need a file.

What it costs

Plan Price AI credits What you get
Free $0, no card 400, given once Up to 10 cards per prompt, "Made with Gamma" badge on exports
Plus Around $10 a month 1,000 a month Badge removed, up to 100 cards per prompt
Pro Around $20 a month 4,000 a month Custom branding, API access, up to 10 custom domains, viewer analytics, premium image models
Ultra Around $90 to $100 a month 20,000 a month The most advanced AI models, up to 100 custom domains

Gamma also sells Team and Business plans. Annual billing lowers the monthly price on Plus and Pro. Prices vary by region and third-party sources quote slightly different figures, so read the exact number on Gamma's pricing page before you subscribe.

There is no free trial of the paid plans. The free plan plays that role.

How far the credits go

This is the part to understand before paying, because credits decide how much you can produce.

Gamma's help centre says that generating with AI uses credits, metered per slide and per image, and that other AI actions such as editing with the agent, adding cards with AI and trying new layouts also use them. Typing and rearranging by hand costs nothing. For images, you see the credit cost of the chosen model before you generate.

Gamma publishes no fixed cost per deck, since it depends on the number of cards, the number of images and the image model. One 2026 roundup of user reviews cites people reporting about 200 credits for a 10-slide deck with AI images. If that holds for your decks, the free pool covers a couple of them and Plus covers a handful each month. Lighter decks will stretch further.

Three rules soften this on paid plans:

  • Credits refill monthly, on both monthly and annual billing.
  • Unused plan credits roll over, up to double the plan size.
  • You can buy extra credits if you run out.

On the free plan the 400 credits never refresh. You can earn 200 more for each person you refer.

The practical advice: watch your credit balance during your first real deck. That tells you which plan you need better than any estimate.

Where Gamma earns its price

Speed to a first draft. This is the most consistent praise in user reviews and Reddit threads. A prompt or a pasted outline becomes a structured, designed deck in minutes, which removes the blank-page stage.

Design without design skills. Themes control fonts, colours and spacing across the whole deck, so the result looks consistent without manual alignment.

Sharing as a link. A Gamma deck can be sent as a web link as well as a file. On Pro, analytics show how individual viewers engaged with it, which is useful for sales decks and fundraising.

Several ways in. You can generate from a prompt, paste existing text, or import PowerPoint, Word and PDF files, and choose whether Gamma keeps your wording or rewrites it. Our guide to turning a document or PDF into slides with AI explains how that kind of workflow differs from prompting.

A free plan you can judge it on. No card is required, and the free plan exports PDF, PowerPoint and PNG with a badge, so you can see a finished result before spending anything.

Where it falls short

PowerPoint export needs cleanup. This is the most common complaint. Gamma's own help page lists differences you should expect: tables lose rounded corners, gradient headings can turn into one colour, frosted backgrounds change, and fonts may be substituted. Users also report text and images shifting when tall cards are fitted to 16:9 slides. If your deck's final home is PowerPoint, budget time for fixing it. Can AI create a PowerPoint presentation? explains why exported files behave this way.

Decks can look alike. Reviewers often say a Gamma deck is recognisable as a Gamma deck. That matters little for an internal update and more for a brand that wants to look distinctive.

AI editing costs credits and can overreach. Some users describe asking the AI to fix one thing and getting other content rewritten too. Small corrections are safer done by hand.

Facts need checking. When Gamma writes from a bare prompt, statistics and claims come from the model's general knowledge. Verify them before you present.

Brand control sits on Pro. Removing the badge takes Plus. Your own branding takes Pro.

Refunds are narrow. Gamma refunds only within the first three days of subscribing, and only if you have used few credits: fewer than 200 on Plus, fewer than 600 on Pro. You have to request it, because cancelling does not trigger a refund automatically. Review roundups also note a cluster of Trustpilot complaints about billing and support, so read the terms before choosing annual billing.

Is Gamma Plus or Pro worth it?

Plus is the plan most people should consider first. It removes the badge, raises the limit to 100 cards per prompt and gives you 1,000 credits every month. If you make a few decks a month and share them outside your team, that is usually enough.

Pro is worth the extra if one of these applies:

  • You need your company's branding on every deck.
  • You send decks to prospects or investors and want to see who viewed them.
  • You publish Gamma pages on your own domain.
  • You want API access or run out of Plus credits regularly.

If none of those apply, Pro mostly buys credits you may not use. Start on Plus and move up when you hit a limit.

Ultra is for heavy users of the most advanced image and AI models. Few presenters need it.

Is Gamma AI legit?

Yes. Gamma is an established company. In November 2025 it announced a $68 million Series B round led by Andreessen Horowitz at a $2.1 billion valuation, and reported 70 million users and $100 million in annual recurring revenue at that time.

People also ask whether Gamma is just ChatGPT underneath. It is a separate product from a separate company, and you do not need a ChatGPT account to use it. Like most tools in this category it relies on AI models from outside providers. Its help centre names GPT Image and Ideogram among the image models on the Ultra plan.

A five-question test

Answer these honestly and the decision usually makes itself.

  1. Do you make more than one or two decks a month? If no, the free plan or a pay-when-needed month is enough.
  2. Will people outside your team see them? If yes, you will want the badge gone, which means Plus.
  3. Where does the deck end up? A link or a PDF suits Gamma well. A PowerPoint file that colleagues will edit means cleanup every time.
  4. Do you have a mandatory company template? If yes, Gamma will fight you, and Pro's custom branding only goes part of the way.
  5. Do you enjoy designing slides yourself? If yes, Gamma's automatic layouts may feel restrictive.

Three or more answers pointing Gamma's way, and Plus is likely to pay for itself. Fewer than that, and you should look at other types of tool first. If you are unsure whether you need this kind of software at all, do you need an AI presentation tool? is a good place to start.

If Gamma is not the right fit

The better alternative depends on what put you off.

Our list of Gamma alternatives groups more options by what they do better, and the best free AI presentation tools covers what you can get without paying.

Next step

Make one real deck on Gamma's free plan, export it in the format you would actually use, and look at how many credits it took. That single test answers most of the questions in this review for your own situation. The Gamma listing summarises plans, export behaviour and limits before you sign up, and the AI presentation makers category shows the tools it competes with.
