Start Here: Find the Right AI Presentation Software

AI presentation tools can help you create a presentation from a prompt, turn existing documents into slides, improve a deck you already have, or handle much of the design work for you.
The difficult part is figuring out which type of tool you actually need.
Some AI presentation tools work directly inside PowerPoint or Google Slides. Others are standalone platforms where you create the entire presentation before sharing it online or exporting it. Some are designed to produce a complete deck from a simple prompt, while others are much better when you're starting with an existing document, report or outline.
This guide will help you narrow down the options.
Start with where you want to create your presentation
One of the easiest ways to narrow your choices is to decide where you want to work.
I want to create presentations with AI from start to finish
Start with our AI Presentation Makers.
These are standalone tools that can help you create an entire presentation using AI. You generally give the software a topic, prompt, outline or existing material, and it helps create the structure, content and design.
This is a good place to start if you don't need to stay inside PowerPoint or Google Slides and are open to using a dedicated presentation platform.

I want AI to help me generate slides
Browse our AI Slide Generators.
These tools focus on turning prompts, outlines, documents or other content into slides. Some are standalone tools, while others work with presentation software you may already use.

I need the finished presentation in PowerPoint
Start with AI PowerPoint Tools.
This distinction matters more than it might seem. Some AI presentation makers can export a presentation to PowerPoint, while others actually work inside PowerPoint and create native, editable slides.
If your final file needs to be a .pptx that you or someone else can continue editing, pay particular attention to how each tool handles PowerPoint rather than simply whether the word “PowerPoint” appears on its feature list.

I use Google Slides
Browse AI Google Slides Tools.
Here you'll find tools that work with Google Slides or can help you create presentations that fit into a Google Slides workflow.
As with PowerPoint, check whether the software actually works inside Google Slides or simply allows you to move or export a presentation there.

Not sure yet? Think about what you're starting with

You don't necessarily need to know which software you want. Start with the job you need it to do.
If you have an idea or a short prompt, look for a tool that can generate the structure, content and design of a complete presentation.
If you already have notes, an outline, a report, PDF or other document, look for tools that can turn existing material into a presentation rather than generating everything from scratch.
If you already have a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation, look for tools that can help rewrite, redesign or add slides without forcing you to rebuild the presentation somewhere else.
And if you're mainly struggling with design, look for tools that handle layouts, formatting and visual consistency rather than choosing based on AI writing features alone.
Free doesn't always mean the same thing
Many AI presentation tools offer some type of free access, but the restrictions vary considerably.
A free plan may limit how many presentations you can generate, how often you can use the AI, whether your presentation includes the company's branding, or whether you can export it to PowerPoint or PDF.
Use the Free Plan filter to find tools you can try without paying, then check the individual listing to see what the free version actually includes.
Pay attention to the final format
Before choosing a tool, think about what needs to happen when the presentation is finished.
If you're presenting directly from the software or sharing a link, a standalone AI presentation maker may work very well.
If a client, employer or teacher expects an editable PowerPoint file, make sure the tool produces genuinely editable PowerPoint slides. Being able to “export to PowerPoint” doesn't always mean the resulting file will behave like a presentation created in PowerPoint.
The same applies to Google Slides.
Compare the tools that fit your workflow
Once you know what you need, use the directory to compare individual tools.
Each listing looks at how the software works, what you can create with it, free and paid options, PowerPoint and Google Slides compatibility, export options, collaboration and branding features, and the situations where another tool may make more sense.
You don't need the AI presentation tool with the longest feature list.
You need the one that fits what you're starting with, where you want to work, and what you need to hand over when you're finished.
